You don't have to "hold" it at 3k....just rev it up to around 3k, and as the rpms are falling turn off the ignition. As the rpms are falling, no fuel is being injected and the engine is still turning, so it purges the extra fuel out. I would recommend not to hold it at 3k since that will still be injecting fuel when you turn it off.
I have used this method for 9 RX7's, and my RX8 with perfect success. I have never had a problem after shutting down this way.

I was aware of some issue regarding the cold shut down of the engine and restarting issues and thought I knew how to prevent this issue. I was so wrong! I did NOT buy from a Mazda dealership so I was not told the Mazda recommendation of shut down. Long story short, shut down my car after moving out of the garage and could not get it to restart. Diagnosed with diagnostic equipment at home and then towed it to Nelson Mazda and low and behold it was a comphresion issue. Factory defect which allowed me to get a new factory engine at NO charge with a new warranty due to regular oil change documentation. Now I know to bring the RPM to 3000 and hold before shutting down the engine. Now no issues, runs like a racer and a great lesson learned. In this case, the dealership was a pleasant experience.

I can't explain it. Never happened to me.

I just got a warning on one of my computers that tvrx8.org has been blocked for distributing malicious software.

Google shows it as clean though...weird...I ran into a similar situation on HCS just recently.

Hello - I just posted my 2007 RX8 Sport in the forum for sale if anyone is interested. I recently purchase a 1969 RS Camaro and I also have a Harley so my wife said one had to go. Not an easy decision to sell my 8 but I am ready to move on - Jesse from Cullman.
